Unit Description
The Ocean unit is a eight week unit centered around Ultimate Oceanpedia: The Most Complete Ocean Reference Ever by Christian Wilsdon. Students will learn about the five oceans and discover how human activity impacts marine life. Each student will select an endangered animal from one of the oceans-- Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, or Southern-- and explain how ocean pollution affects its ecosystem. They will learn about the sources of ocean pollution and its effect on both marine life and society. Finally, students will explore ways to advocate for ocean conversation in their communities and develop strategies to reduce waste.
